Blue Heron Ridge is a picturesque recreational property among an abundance of native trees and shrubs located on the south side of scenic Fish Lake. Fish Lake is approximately 2 ½ miles long and 1/4 mile wide and is part of the Sturgeon River system. The lake is fed from the north by a creek flowing in, and out at the south end along with numerous springs and natural water runs. The heart of many lakes in the area with its depths varying from 20 to 30 feet, Fish Lake is great for canoeing, kayaking, boating, water sports and of course great year round fishing. The nearly 10 acres of Environmental Reserve preserves the natural beauty of the riparian area with an abundance of birch, spruce, and poplar trees. If berry-picking is your preference, there are numerous varieties of fruit-bearing trees in the area such as pin cherry, and choke cherry trees along with wild strawberry, raspberry, saskatoon and high bush cranberry bushes that decorate this picturesque landscape. The wildlife in this area includes moose, deer, elk, black bear, lynx, otter, mink and many different types of waterfowl including loons, pelicans and of course, the Blue Heron. A family of foxes make this their home year round. The unique flow of the ridge creates the natural elevation of Blue Heron Ridge providing splendid views of this remarkable lake from both lakefront and lake view properties. Public walkways provide access to the lake from lake view properties. A concrete boat launch area is available to all Blue Heron Ridge property owners. There is an abundance of room to have your own dock within a park like atmosphere. Each property bears a unique frontage and appeal providing a variety of options in developing that relaxing retreat. The lots of Blue Heron Ridge offer varying elevations and slopes to the shore lines. Watch closely to see the wild buffalo, moose or elk and be certain the mysterious timber wolf will be not far away.
The Canwood Regional Park Golf course is set to be Saskatchewan’s newest grass green 9 holes. Construction has completed and greens are ready to play. The addition of grass greens will make Canwood’s already picturesque, set in forest experience doubly appreciated. The park is a short 15 km drive from the Blue Heron Ridge. During winter months, Ski Timber Ridge near Big River offers a great facility for snow-boarding and down-hill skiing. The south entrance to the Prince Albert National Park is 26 km. away and 89 km from the town of Waskesiu. where you can find countless enjoyable activities at Waskesiu and Elk Ridge Resort. Big River’s Ness Creek hosts 4 major music festivals annually with a wide variety of entertainment. Blue Heron Ridge on Fish Lake has access to many services to promise a clean, safe environment. The Rural Municipality of Canwood provides year round maintenance of roads as well as garbage bins and regular pick-up. The Canwood Fire Department / First Responders are only 10 minutes away.
